Every year in Utah there is an event to raise money for the Primary Children’s Hospital. My husband and I have attend for years looking at these beautiful creations of trees, wreaths, gingerbread and so much more. A lot of the items are created in memory of a loved one. The year my husband’s best friend passed away we decided we would create a tree in his memory. Since then I have created trees and wreaths in memory of loved ones and just for sheer joy of making things.
This year I did two trees and two wreaths.
Wreath #1 – Mickey and Minnie’s Christmas, created for my love of Disney.
Wreath #2 – Christmas Thief – This wreath was inspired as soon as I saw those Grinch legs! I knew I had to do something with them and I settled on a wreath. This wreath sold for $825!! I still cannot believe it. I think I will definitely be making another one this year.
I created a 9 foot Christmas tree in blue for my mother in law, Jackie. I truly miss her almost everyday. She loved Christmas and her favorite color was blue.
The last tree is created for my love of the Harry Potter books. Each house is showcased by a crocheted mascot and then I added handcrafted ornaments. I added the Sorting Hat for tree topper.
As soon as I was done decorating, I was already plotting out trees for this year. I plan on making at least two trees and at least one wreath. One tree is going to be a 6 foot tree for my favorite cartoon A Year Without a Santa Claus fifth anniversary. I received a 3d printer and can hardly wait to start crafting for it.
